This image looks super out of context when it's not stated that these are original characters inserted into recreated movie scenes. Also, it was meant to be a Halloween image. It's NOT a take on what The Shining would be if it were an Anime. I don't mean to sound unappreciative to those who have pimped my work elsewhere, I appreciate the sentiments... but I would prefer this image was only displayed on DeviantArt. Thank you! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Like my previous Halloween pictures ( [link] , [link] ) I've inserted me an' my friends characters into a pic depicting... OTHER CHARACTERS. This year it's The Shining... I just love this movie. Jack Nicholson is WONDERFUL in it. If you like Horror movies and haven't seen this... YOU SHOULD. It's a damn classic... dangit. (And I have not seen the 1997 version... But I know it cannot compare to Kubrick's) And, obviously, each of the panels in this image is based on a scene from the movie. Yarrow would be incredibly pleased to play the role of Jack. The tone and color and overal graininess of all 4 images just feel so RIGHT with the movie's strangely sanitary look. Each expression is vibrant in that it's entirely unique from each other, and Yarrows certainly steals the show - but then again he's mimicing an actor who did the same thing in the movie. He makes the best Jack Nicholson imaginable, and with those chompers it seems more menacing and impressive. I love the little wobbly hair on his forehead, the darkness behind him, and his crazy shadow-circled eyes. Unf.
Then there's poor scared-shitless Yewon who's gettin' ready to fight or flight with knife in hand! Love how the pose feels kinda tense and nice job on the focus point with the crazy ass axe in front veiw. Her squishy antennea and screaming mouth totally make the scene all the more intense. It's like you can hear the door breaking down!
Makoto managed to SOMEHOW come off creepy, despite how adorable she looks in those dresses. I love the background and how it kinda gives me this boxed in clausterphobia feeling when looking at it. ughghghg freaky.
And finally, SYDNEY. A man that can look good in plaid. I love that ominous lighting you used and how he's kinda wide eyed and hesitant to look over his big ol' shoulder. The redrum scrawling just totally kills me. All in all everyone fits their little scarey roles and I am now rambling excitedly about this picture ;U; thank you for including Yewon and for making this such a fun halloweeeeen picture!
